BioTek Instruments, Inc. Delivers Support through Interactive Program

September 7, 2006

BioTek Instruments, Inc. has produced a comprehensive in-house educational and trial research program for its automated microplate technology systems. Qualified customers are introduced to the Winooski, VT facility with a brief plant tour including manufacturing and quality system areas. A large portion of the visit is dedicated to technical discussion and hands-on operation in a fully staffed applications laboratory that is tailored to the customer’s unique research. BioTek staff scientists collaborate with the customer directly on a range of large automated microplate systems and peripheral equipment, including the functional span of features, process validation, and software capacity.

“By inviting prospective customers to our facility, we have the opportunity to focus with them towards a total automated solution without distractions that normally occur in the day-to-day drug discovery laboratory,” stated Paul Held, Senior Scientist at BioTek Instruments, Inc. “In addition to the hands-on research, our entire team of microplate experts is at their disposal to answer any questions about the research process and the critical role of BioTek products within that process.”

Peter Weith, Vice President, Marketing & Sales at BioTek Instruments, Inc. highlights the two-sided benefit of this customer participation model, “The customer benefits from a highly educational and hands-on experience in a controlled and focused environment prior to assimilating the equipment in their laboratory. And, from our perspective, this program has proven advantageous in further developing our technology within rapidly evolving drug discovery and development markets. At the end of the day, we’re always centered on our customers, and we’ll go to great lengths to satisfy their requirements. This program allows us to meet their needs today and lay the groundwork to continue meeting their needs well into the future.”

Larger robotic systems featured in this program include the Bio-Stack™ microplate stacking and storage system, Twister® II microplate handler, and Precision™ automated microplate pipetting systems. Complementary equipment includes Synergy™ multi-detection microplate readers and PowerWave™ microplate spectrophotometers (both powered by the new Gen5™ Data Analysis Software), µFill™ and NanoQuot microplate dispensers, and BioTek’s market-leading ELx405 microplate washer. BioTek has also partnered with other ancillary equipment vendors for increased ordering convenience through this interactive program.

BioTek Instruments, Inc., headquartered in Winooski, VT, is a worldwide leader in the design, manufacture, and sale of microplate instrumentation and software. The BioTek Instruments, Inc. instrumentation is used to accelerate the drug discovery process, to advance discoveries in genomics and proteomics, and to aid in the advancement of life science research.
